QROS indexes hosts continuously through a background crawler that scans public IP ranges. But if a host is not yet in the index — or if you want fresh data — QROS lets you trigger an on-demand scan. Search the IP or domain, and QROS enqueues a real scan job that runs within minutes.
How on-demand scanning works
When you search for an IP or domain that's not yet indexed, QROS:
- Enqueues a real scan job (rate-limited to prevent abuse)
- Connects to the host on 51 common TCP ports
- Grabs banners and identifies software + versions
- Reads TLS certificates on encrypted ports
- Identifies web technologies when a web page is served
- Matches detected versions against the NVD CVE catalog
- Geolocates the host (country, city, network operator)
- Indexes the result so it's searchable by everyone
Rate limiting and responsible scanning
On-demand scans are rate-limited per IP to prevent abuse. QROS scans politely — bounded concurrency, short socket timeouts, and a clear User-Agent. QROS only reads what a host exposes to any connecting client — open ports, banners, and certificates. No exploitation, no authentication bypass, no personal data.
